In Africa, their land has been decimated by a growing population, and they’re hunted both legally and illegally on the small remainder of territory they have left.it’s estimated that 96 elephants die per day in Africa, and that within 10 years, elephants could be gone forever.
Poachers are now slaughtering up to 35,000 of the estimated 500,000 African elephants every year for their tusks. A single male elephant's two tusks can weigh more than 250 pounds, with a pound of ivory fetching as much as $1,500 on the black market.Mar 15, 2014.
So if we want them to survive we all need to do something to preserve this marvelous creatures.
